JOHOR BARU: The PR1MA Innovative Housing Loan Scheme introduced by PR1MA Corp Malaysia is in line with the Keluarga Malaysia aspiration to strengthen home ownership.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this innovative scheme is an example that should be a benchmark in efforts by the government and industry players like PR1MA in providing access to easy financing to PR1MA house buyers.
"This buyer-friendly initiative will definitely provide opportunities for more of the Keluarga Malaysia, especially in the young and middle-income groups, to buy PR1MA houses without having to worry about home financing.
"This is one of the issues raised and discussed at a National Affordable Housing Council meeting recently. Alhamdulillah, we have seen a result of the discussion," he said in his speech at the launch of the scheme at the Residensi Larkin Indah project here.
Also present were Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican and Johor caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad.
The scheme is a collaboration between PR1MA and Syarikat Jaminan Kredit Perumahan Bhd (SJKP), a company wholly owned by the Finance Ministry.
The prime minister said he is confident about this effort, and he believes initiatives like this would enable more Keluarga Malaysia to own homes, including for those who are facing difficulties in securing loans with the guarantee issued by SJKP.
"This is in line with the announcement in the 2022 Budget where RM2 billion have been allocated to SJKP to implement this mandate.
"This proves the government's commitment in providing Keluarga Malaysia with access to extensive and easy home financing," he said.
He said the scheme was in line with the Keluarga Malaysia aspiration and the ministry's Home Ownership Programme (Hope).
"I was made to understand that the scheme will be introduce at the Residensi Larkin Indah project first before being extended to other PR1MA projects.
"This will provide future PR1MA house buyers with the comfort to confidently plan for their housing purchase. Thank you PR1MA and SJKP for helping Keluarga Malaysia in owning their dream homes," said Ismail Sabri.
At the event, he also presented offer letters to buyers of units at the project.
Ismail Sabri also launched PR1MA's SAKU Training and Employment Programme (Step) which is a collaboration between PR1MA and institutions of higher learning and non-governmental organisations.
Under the programme, PR1MA is offering 1,000 job opportunities for youths for positions at either its headquarters in Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, or its regional offices on a one-year contract with a possible one-year extension.
