KOTA KINABALU: Hotel industry players in the state are ready to receive visitors including international tourists.
Raia Hotel Kota Kinabalu manager Hisham Abd Samad said they had taken the necessary precautions to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.
"All preparations such as sanitisation process, cleaning of the entire premises and staff briefings have been implemented in advance.
"We hope the number of visitors staying at the Raia Hotel will continue to increase with the reopening of the country's borders although there might not be many in the initial stage," he said.
Zara Boutique hotel owner and managing director Eliza Goh said she prioritised training for hotel staff members to handle situations involving Covid-19 infection.
"We want the staff at this hotel to know the steps to be taken if there are visitors who have health problems or are confirmed positive.
"Besides that, they (guests) should also understand and be sensitive to the guidelines set by the government so that there is no violation that could result in the hotel receiving legal action.
"The hotel also provides isolation rooms for visitors who have symptoms while waiting for further action from the Health Ministry.
"Overall, we are ready to receive visitors to this hotel and hope that with the opening of the country's borders, it will be able to give a new lease on life to the local tourism industry, especially in Sabah."
