KUALA LUMUR: The Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) received RM394,500 in sponsorship from 45 organisations for its awards ceremony.
Its chief executive officer Datuk Dr Chamil Wariya said, MPI had received donations and sponsorship from corporates, ministries, government agencies and media organisations for the event, which was scheduled to be held on June 24 in Shangri-La Hotel, here.
He said MPI received a sponsorship worth RM300,000 from Petronas, which is the main sponsor of the Malaysian Press Institute-Petronas journalism awards.
"It is encouraging to see the number of sponsors and contributors increasing yearly. This shows that the Malaysian Press Night is supported by corporate entities and government agencies," he said during an appreciation luncheon for the sponsors on Thursday.
He said their sponsorships were also a proof that there was recognituon for outstanding journalistic works.
Chamil expressed his gratitude to Petronas for sponsoring the Malaysian Journalism Awards night, which is in its 28th year.
"We also like to thank Ambank Malaysia Bhd; EXIM Bank (M) Bhd; SME Bank; Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), Berjaya Corporation Bhd and Prasarana Malaysia Bhd for sponsoring the awards consecutively over the past seven to 10 years."
