KUALA LUMPUR: Queenspree, an online retailer of kitchen furnishing products, won The BrandLaureate SMEs Best Brands Award 2022.

The award was presented by SME Corp chief executive officer Rizal Nainy at the award's gala night at Majestic Hotel here. Present was Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Special Functions) Datuk Mastura Mohd Yazid.

The nominees underwent a four-phase qualifying and verification process by the foundation's research committee and board of governors led by industry executives and brand icons, including Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Datuk Jimmy Choo and Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman.

Queenspree chief executive officer Abdul Rahman Md Din said:  "We are deeply honoured for being awarded The BrandLaureate SMEs Best Brands Award. The award is a collective reflection of the brand relationship that our customers experience, feel and think and we are glad to have exceeded the mark for them."

Queenspree is poised to enter the Middle East market by the third quarter of the year.

This is   upon it finalising the terms of engagement with a UAE-based company that will localise and market Queenspree's products and offerings for the Middle East market through Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation's e-Trade programme.

The firm is also forging ties with retail firm Sen Heng and cooperative organisations to boost brand awareness and market presence.

Co-founder and chief financial officer Rafiza Abd Hamid said: "As we grow our reach, explore new markets and form new business relationships, it is increasingly important that we stay true to our brand identity and values.

"Earning The BrandLaureate SMEs Best Brands Award reaffirms our commitment to live and breathe these values in every aspect of our business."

Queenspree leverages technology and processes to create a convenient and carefree online shopping experience.

Founded in July 2019, the company aims to position itself as a one-stop centre for high-quality local and international kitchen furnishing products.

It took a big step towards this goal in October last year with the signing of a memorandum of understanding of supply with an Italian company based in Milan to on-board more European kitchenware brands on its e-Commerce platform.

Queenspree has also received the SME and Entrepreneurs Business Awards 2021, earning it the Fast-Growing SME Award for Most Promising in Retail e-Commerce.

Earlier this year, the firm won a US$120,000 start up grant from Teraju, a unit in the Prime Minister's Department, which aims to accelerate the growth of high potential local start-ups.
