Batik Air restores network to Mumbai, Kochi and Bangalore

KUALA LUMPUR: In response to strong demand for connectivity to cities in India, Batik Air today said it is restoring direct services from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Mumbai, Kochi and Bangalore, effective August.

The first four-times weekly flight to Mumbai will depart KLIA on Aug 1, the airline said.

"Flight OD231 will depart KLIA to Kochi at 9.35pm and arrive at 11.10pm, with the first flight departing on Aug 1," it said, adding that flight frequencies to Kochi will also be four-times weekly.

Batik Air chief executive officer Captain Mushafiz Mustafa Bakri said: "Our services to Bangalore will be twice weekly operating every Thursday and Sunday, with the first flight commencing on Aug 4.

"India is an important market in our Indian subcontinent network. We are stepping up our services in response to the robust demand for air travel to the cities in India. "

By October, Mushafiz noted, the frequency of flights to the three cities would be increased.

"Additionally, we are looking at expanding our reach to more cities in this key market. This will offer our customers more flexibility and options in their travel plans," he said.

Batik Air is a subsidiary of the Lion Air Group. Other airlines under its stable include Super Jet, Wings Air, Batik Air Indonesia, Biz Jet, Thai Lion Air and Lion Air.
