Zahid visits parents' graves

BAGAN DATUK: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi paid a visit to his parents' graves at Tebuk Chek Maja Muslim Cemetery in Sungai Nipah Darat, here, today.

The Bagan Datuk member of parliament arrived around 1.30pm to offer prayers for his mother Tuminah Abdul Jalil and father Raden Hamidi Abdul Fatah.

His mother died on Oct 2011 while his father on Aug 2014.

Zahid was accompanied by his brother, Datuk Hakim Hamidi and Rungkup assemblyman Datuk Shahrulzaman Yahya.

Earlier, he chaired a closed-door meeting with Bagan Datuk Umno division leaders at Bagan Datuk Umno Complex here.

After visiting the graves, he attended the wedding event of one Naiumi Azmi Mat Desa and wife Norshamiah Abdullah at Kampung Sungai Nipah Baruh.

Zahid took oath as the deputy prime minister together with Petra Jaya member of parliament Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof before Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, at Istana Negara yesterday.

The Umno president also holds the ministerial portfolio in charge of rural and regional development, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
