KUALA LUMPUR: The management of SJKC Mun Choong is waiting for news on the fate of several school staff who are victims of the Batang Kali landslide yesterday.
The school's senior assistant 1, Ng Siew Foon, said the school has no plans to hold any ceremony for now.
"Any ceremony will be announced later because many of my teachers have not been found yet," she said the New Straits Times Press.
At least 23 people associated with the school, including seven teachers with their friends and families, were camping at Father's Organic Farm when a landslide about 2am yesterday brought tonnnes of earth crashing down the their tents.
They were camping since Wednesday and were supposed to have left this morning.
The school's Parent-Teacher Association chairman, U Chin Ong, when contacted today, declined to commen.t
"Let's wait for the official announcement from the Education Ministry," he said.
Yesterday, U said two of the teachers were found safe and five are still missing.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek confirmed that teachers from the school were involved in the landslide.
Although the camping trip was not a school event, Fadhlina pledged to provide assistance to victims.
