KUALA LUMPUR: Former Bar Council president Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan made a sharp remark against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim following public criticism of the appointment of his daughter, Nurul Izzah, as senior economic and financial advisor.
Despite assuring the public that awarding contracts to family members would not happen under his administration, Ambiga this morning tweeted: "A green light for all Ministers to bring in family!"
This response gained more than 2,000 views within the span of one hour with a Twitter user replying, "It's not even funny DSAI".
Anwar insisted that all Cabinet members are prohibited from giving salaries or rewards from government allocations to family members if they want to appoint them as advisers or officials respectively.
The Prime Minister also asserted the government will ensure that no contracts worth millions of ringgit are awarded to family members to any member of his administration throughout the reign of the Unity Government.
