Pekan health clinic staff quarters' roof collapses, damaging two cars

PEKAN: Two vehicles were damaged after parts of the porch roof of the Pekan health clinic staff quarters collapsed today.

Concrete and wooden debris crashed on a Toyota Vios and Proton Saga after the roof gave way about 2.45pm. No one was at home during the mishap.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said the department was alerted about 2.58pm before six personnel were deployed to the scene.

"When firemen arrived, the porch concrete structure had collapsed and two cars parked below were damaged. There was no one inside the house and under the porch during the incident.

"The occupants who returned home after being alerted about the incident were ordered to evacuate the house for safety reasons. Firemen inspected the premises before allowing the residents to collect their documents and belongings from their premises," he said.

Meanwhile, a Pekan Fire and Rescue spokesman said the clinic's management has been advised to engage the Public Works Department to inspect the other workers quarters in the same compound.
