KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims in Johor, Malaysia, has risen to 33,149 as of 8am today.
The state disaster management committee reported that 10 districts in Johor have been affected by the floods, with Segamat having the highest number of victims at 12,186 from 3,519 families currently placed in 77 temporary relief centres (PPS).
There are currently 9,354 families seeking shelter at 217 PPS statewide, compared to 31,865 victims from 8,984 families reported on Thursday midnight.
Other affected districts include Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, Johor Baru, Pontian, Batu Pahat, Muar, and Tangkak.
Kluang has 5,174 victims, followed by Batu Pahat (4,340), Kota Tinggi (3,689), Muar (2,829), Tangkak (1,999), Johor Baru (1,216), Mersing (722), Kulai (630) and Pontian (364).
As of this morning, the floods have claimed three lives.
