KUALA LUMPUR: The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) construction has reached 39.64 per cent completion as of January.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the route and location of the ECRL stations were finalised after receiving the railway scheme approval.
He said the completion date for Section A (Kota Baru to Dungun), Section B (Dungun to Mentakab), and Section C1 (Mentakab to ITT Gombak) remains as scheduled on Dec 31, 2026.
Section C2 (Gombak to Port Klang) is expected to complete by Dec 31, 2027, he said.
"ECRL will see 2023 as the peak year of its construction involving beam launching, station building, track laying, and other (related works).
"Most of the construction works are being actively carried out with certain works focused on Section A, Section B, and Section C1a from Kelantan to Pahang.
"Among the works are construction of bridge using beam launcher machinery as well as digging and tunnelling works," he said in a parliamentary written reply to a question from Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias (BN-Jelebu).
Loke said preliminary works on other tunnels had begun such as the Gombak Tunnel and Serendah Tunnel both located in Selangor.
"Structural works such as bridges, viaducts, and sub-grade activities are in full swing along the ECRL alignment."
The land repossession under Section 8 of the Land Acquisition Act 1960 in Selangor for Section C1b (Gombak district) was gazetted on Dec 22, 2022, Loke said.
"Meanwhile, Section C2 (Gombak - Serendah - Port Klang) was gazetted on Jan 12, 2023."
