MARANG: The Terengganu enforcement division of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has mobilised 116 officers to conduct checks under Op Pantau 2023, starting last Thursday.
Its director, Saharuddin Mohd Kia, said they were helped by 58 price monitoring officers.
Op Pantai 2023 covers Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars, public markets, farmer's markets, supermarkets and online sales activities.
"We expect cooperation from traders by not taking advantage of the fasting month by indiscriminately increasing prices," Saharuddin said after the launch of the 2023 Terengganu Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar in Binjai Rendah, here.
The ministry distributed RM20 in the form of e-wallets through the Retail Sector Digitisation Initiative (ReDI) programme to the first 6,000 visitors at the bazaar.
Saharuddin said: "This initiative is only offered at Rahmah Binjai Rendah Ramadan Bazaar every weekend during the month of Ramadan. As for traders, they get e-wallet of RM30." — Bernama
