No open house at Seri Perdana Complex on the first day of Raya

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will attend the "Malaysia Madani Open House Ceremony with the Prime Minister" in three states to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

A statement from the Prime Minister's Department said this marked the first time a prime minister would attend the annual large-scale Aidilfitri event in more than one state.

This year's programmes will see a departure from previous practices as there will not be an open house at the prime minister's official residence in Seri Perdana Complex, Putrajaya, on the first day of Aidilfitri.

"The prime minister will not hold an open house in conjunction with the 2023 Aidilfitri celebration on Syawal 1, 1444 Hijrah at his official residence in Seri Perdana Complex, Putrajaya.

"For the first time, the 'Malaysia Madani Open House Ceremony with the Prime Minister' is being held in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

"The programmes are organised by the Prime Minister's Department with the Project Acceleration and Coordination Unit as the main coordinator. The events are being held with the cooperation of the state governments, which will play the role of host, and several ministries have been appointed as programme coordinators," the department said in the statement today.

It said Anwar would attend the national-level Aidilfitri open house at Hotel Raia in Alor Star, Kedah, on April 29. The event will be held from 10am to 2pm.

He will then attend another open house on the grounds of the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Baru, Kelantan, on May 12. The event is from 7pm to 10.30pm

He will also attend the Aidilfitri open house at Dewan Al-Muktafi Billah Shah in Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin on May 13. The programme will be held from 7pm to 10.30pm.

"These events will be attended by the prime minister as the guest of honour, as well as menteris besar and federal ministers."

It said Anwar would also attend another three other Aidilfitri open house events organised by the state governments of Selangor, Penang and Negri Sembilan.

It said the national-level open house in Kedah is coordinated by the Home Ministry, in Kelantan by the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Ministry and and in Terengganu by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
