KUALA LUMPUR: A structure in Aceh which looks very much like Malaysia's famous landmark, the Petronas Twin Towers, has gained online attention among netizens.
In a Facebook post, Asean Skyline shared images of the replica thrilling Malaysians who appreciated the tribute.
However, many Indonesians are insisting that the design was based on the largest Hindu temple in our neighbouring country known as Candi Prambanan.
"Maybe KLCC was inspired by ancient Candi of Prambanan?" commented user @Gan Wei Di.
Replying to the comment, @Wan Sasaki argued: "Candi Prambanan doesn't have a sky bridge and Petronas Twin Towers is inspired by Islamic architecture, not Hindu."
Another user, @Handy Wijaya pointed out the replica as being obvious as to what it is based on.
"No need to be a genius to know that the structure is a replica of the Petronas towers."
However, most of the other comments did not even debate about the inspiration for the structure, merely giving a thumbs up to the efforts done in creating it.
"Thank you so much, Indonesia. It is such an honour," said user @Nor Affendi Jaafar.
One user also took the opportunity to express thanks to the people involved during the construction of the Petronas Twin Towers.
"Thank you, Indonesia. We should thank them because, during the tower's construction in 1993, Indonesian workers were among those who built KLCC apart from our people," user @Mohamad Azizul said.
