JOHOR BARU: Singapore Transport Minister S. Iswaran expressed the republic's readiness to study any proposal from the Malaysian government to revive the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project.
Iswaran said he had a discussion with Transport Minister Anthony Loke, and the revival of the HSR was among the topics discussed.
"We remain open and ready to work with the Malaysian government on any new proposal," he said during the Johor Baru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project site visit with Loke today.
Meanwhile, Loke said the government was keen to revive the HSR project. However the model of implementation should be via private sector involvement (PSI).
"We received many proposals and interest from the local private sectors, and we are going through the proposals,' he said.
The ministers had earlier attended MRT's Corp Hari Raya Open House held at Menara JLand here.
The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar graced the event.
The ruler was briefed on RTS progress and given a bird's eye view of the RTS Link construction site in Bukit Chagar, from the 26th floor of Menara JLand.
The RTS Link, which is due to be completed by the end of 2026, is now 35 per cent ready on the Malaysian side, while over 45 per cent of the construction has been completed in Singapore.
