LGBT: Home Ministry to explain raid on Swatch outlets, seizure of watches

SHAH ALAM: The Home Ministry will provide an explanation on the raids on Swatch outlets recently, where watches with rainbow-themed designs, often associated with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, were seized.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he had yet to receive details on the matter.

"Let the Home Ministry explain themselves. It is not an issue of the colours displayed on the watch, but the LGBT wording.

"I'm sorry, but I haven't seen the details," he told reporters after the Turath Islami Selangor Festival 2023.

It was reported that the two-day raid on May 13 and 14 was conducted at Swatch boutiques located in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, One Utama, Sunway Pyramid, Setia City Mall, Mid Valley Megamall, Southkey, Sunway Putra Mall, Sogo KL, Queensbay, Fahrenheit 88 and Suria Sabah.
