IPOH: Umno Youth should forget the past and move on in order to strengthen its relationship with DAP.
DAP vice-chairman Nga Kor Ming said he hoped both parties would avoid breaking the momentum achieved in the six months since Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan formed the unity government.
"We have already moved on. The Umno president who is Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has also moved on.
"Our main focus is to help Umno, and Umno helps DAP to strengthen the Malaysia Madani government for the wellbeing of the people and country's political stability.
"As such, I humbly request all voters to choose a party that is aligned with the federal government so that we do not break the momentum that we have worked so hard to build.
"Don't break the momentum that already exists. Let us have political stability in this five-year period. Give time to the government that exists today and give time to government agencies to prove themselves and implement what we can do together," said Nga, who is Local Government Development Minister during a press conference after visiting Kampung Simee Market here today.
On Thursday, Umno Youth Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh demanded DAP to apologise for its past statements and allegations thrown against the party.
Dr Akmal during his policy speech at the Umno Youth delegates' conference said DAP should apologise if they wanted to "soften" the hearts of Umno, especially in facing the upcoming state elections.
DAP had apologised to the Sarawak government and its people for any statement that might have offended them, citing a "fresh start" before forming the unity government.
The party's secretary-general Anthony Loke had, on Nov 23 last year, met with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg at the latter's residence in Kuching to have a "friendly discussion" and publicly apologise.
