SEPANG: Malaysia's newest low-cost carrier, MYAirline Sdn Bhd, is set to spread its wings to international skies with its first flight to Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday (June 28).
MYAirline chief executive officer, Rayner Teo, said the airline would operate at two airports in Bangkok, with the operation at Suvarnabhumi Airport on June 28 and at Don Mueang International Airport on July 1.
"We are the first Malaysian carrier that actually operates in two different airports in Bangkok.
"We will be starting with one flight per day and progressively to four flights per day," he told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 here, today in conjunction with the airline's success in hitting the one-million passenger milestone earlier this month.
Since its inaugural flight on 1 Dec last year, MYAirline has connected Kuala Lumpur to various popular destinations including Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Kota Bharu, Langkawi, Penang, Sibu, Tawau and Miri.
Teo said MYAirline received the certificate of airworthiness today for its eighth aircraft which will be used to serve the Bangkok routes.
Currently, MYAirline operates seven aircraft with an average of 91 per cent load factor.
MYAirline has planned to expand the flight network to other parts of Thailand, such as Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai, while also planning to fly to Indonesia, mainly to Bali and Jakarta, as well as to Vietnam and Singapore.
On future plans, he said MYAirline is looking to set up its second hub either in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah or Kuching, Sarawak.
"As with any airline, we are looking towards multiple hub operations. So, we have our main one here (KLIA) and before the year-end, we are targeting to have our second hub, it could be in Sabah or Sarawak but definitely, it makes sense to have one hub in each of the states," he said.
Meanwhile, MYAirline said the one-million passenger milestone was achieved in a little over six months of operations across nine domestic routes within Malaysia.
The momentous occasion was marked today as passengers on flight Z98104 from Kuching arrived at KLIA Terminal 2 at 3pm.
Ten lucky passengers also received return flight tickets to top destinations within Malaysia operated by the airline.
Teo said MYAirline remains committed to providing exceptional services and memorable experiences as it continues to grow and serve the MYAirline community.
"This milestone exemplifies its dedication to being Malaysia's most reliable airline, as it firmly believes that passengers' experience matters," he said. – Bernama
