KOTA BARU: More than 30 preschool pupils joyfully engaged in a parade and various activities as part of this year's National Day celebrations.
Adorned in vibrant traditional attire, these young learners represented Taska and Tadika Minda Kasih, preschools nestled along Jalan Kuala Krai.
Their teacher, Siti Zanani Mohd Khan, shared that the children from the age of three and above exhibited palpable excitement and a strong sense of enthusiasm to celebrate the National Day.
"While the National Day falls on Aug 31, we opted to organise the event now as the long school holidays in Kelantan begin today," she said.
"Throughout the past week, our pupils have been practising waving the Jalur Gemilang and singing patriotic songs, all in preparation for a simple parade.
"Today, their sheer joy in participating in the parade and singing these tunes was unmistakable," she said.
The event commenced with the preschoolers singing the national anthem, "Negaraku."
"Clad in traditional costumes, they waved the Jalur Gemilang while enthusiastically singing the national anthem.
"Then, they paraded around the village, a vivid display of their deep-rooted affection for the country," Siti Zanani recounted.
Highlighting the significance of nurturing patriotism, Siti Zanani revealed that the preschools organise the National Day parade every year.
"Although they are still young, it seems that they understand the meaning of this celebration," she added.
Apart from that, she said the children also participated in a Jalur Gemilang colouring contest.
Malaysia will celebrate its 66th Merdeka Day on Aug 31 and this year's theme is "Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan" ("Malaysia Madani: Determination of Unity Fulfills Hope").
This theme underscores the unwavering resolve and commitment exhibited by Malaysians and their leaders, fostering a resolute spirit of unity, peaceful coexistence, and shared prosperity.
