Zahid silent on court DNAA decision: Places trust in AG to explain

BATU PAHAT: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed his full confidence in the new Attorney General's ability to explain the High Court's decision to release him from charges related to the Yayasan Akal Budi funds.

Acknowledging his involvement in the case, Zahid said he had no right to comment on the judicial outcome.

"Ask the Attorney General because he has delegated the prosecutor to state 11 facts in court (to stop the case proceedings).

"As a person involved, I have no right to comment."

He further conveyed his trust in the new Attorney General and the Deputy Public Prosecutor to clarify any pertinent matters if necessary.

"The 11 facts presented at the Kuala Lumpur High Court are enough for me because the court has made its decision," he said when met by reporters at the Women Entrepreneurs Carnival at MRSM Batu Pahat, here today.

On Monday, the Kuala Lumpur High Court granted Zahid a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) of 12 criminal breach of trust (CBT) charges, eight counts of bribery and 27 for money laundering, involving millions of ringgit belonging to Yayasan Akal Budi.

Judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah made the decision after hearing 11 reasons Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar presented to halt the case proceedings.
