Sultan Nazrin opens Bagan Datuk Bridge, now named Sultan Nazrin Shah Bridge

BAGAN DATUK: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, graced the official opening of the Bagan Datuk Bridge here today. His Majesty also graciously named the approximately 1.5 kilometre bridge, valued at RM460 million and spanning the Perak River, as the Sultan Nazrin Shah Bridge.

His Majesty and the Queen of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, were received and welcomed by the Deputy Prime Minister and member of parliament for Bagan Datuk, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, was also in attendance.

Raja Di Hilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris and Raja Muda Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, were also present. The ceremony began with the Perak state anthem, followed by the recitation of the Quran and a prayer before Sultan Nazrin performed the inauguration and signed a plaque.

His Majesty then graciously watched a water performance by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency in the middle section of the bridge. --BERNAMA
