KUALA LUMPUR: Mercy Malaysia has sprung into action in a swift response to the unfolding crisis in Gaza.
The humanitarian organisation said in a Facebook post that it closely monitors a large-scale ground and air raid process initiated by Israel in the Palestinian camp within the Gaza Strip, which commenced on Saturday (Oct 7).
It cited Al-Jazeera reports, indicating the severity of the situation, with hundreds of soldiers involved in the operation, accompanied by numerous airstrikes.
Tragically, the conflict has already claimed the lives of at least 198 Palestinians and 40 Israelis, leaving many more injured.
"The number is expected to escalate very rapidly and most likely will lead to a humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
"Mercy Malaysia is currently monitoring the situation and looking at all possibilities to grant aid in the form of health assistance, psychosocial support, and medical supplies as per the needs on the ground."
