KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called out the international community over their biased action against the oppression of Palestinians amidst escalation of clashes in and around the Gaza Strip.
In a posting on X, Anwar said as a result of the injustice towards the Palestinian people, hundreds of innocent lives were lost.
"The international community continues to take a one-sided action regarding all forms of cruelty and oppression to the Palestinian people.
"The confiscation of Palestinian land and property is done relentlessly by the Zionists.
"As a result of this injustice, hundreds of innocent lives were sacrificed.
"Malaysia remains in solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people," he said.
Earlier today, Wisma Putra urged the United Nations Security Council to urgently convene an Emergency Session to demand all parties stop the violence as well as respect and protect the lives of innocent civilians in the Gaza strip.
It also called on the United Nations Security Council to fulfil its charter-mandated responsibility for maintaining international peace and security.
Malaysia has joined several countries in calling for a de-escalation of the war after Israel launched airstrikes and other military operations targeting Gaza that Palestinian authorities say killed more than 230 people.
This was after Hamas military wing, Al Qassam Brigades, carried out a complex attack targeting Israeli settlements near Gaza, where its army faced more than 5,000 rockets, catching the Israeli Occupation Army off-guard.
They were then joined by fighters from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian factions from Gaza who infiltrated the border areas and clashed with the Israeli Occupation Army.
The attack, codenamed by Hamas "Al Aqsa Flood", bore fruit when they took control of the Israeli settlements over the border.
In response, the Israeli Occupation Army launched "Operation Iron Swords" against the Hamas groups.
