KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has unveiled an ambitious plan to invigorate the halal industry, with a standout highlight being the creation of a whopping 25,000 new jobs.
In a recent statement, Zahid detailed his comprehensive approach to bolster the halal sector.
"In our strategic collaboration with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), we aim to raise the bar in terms of laboratory standards and cultivate a greater number of experts dedicated to the issuance of halal certificates," said Zahid.
He stated that he is actively working with institutions to shape a new generation of graduates skilled in halal management under Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
"These graduates are poised to meet the surging demand for expertise within the halal industry.
"These positions encompass roles as auditors and halal practitioners, which have emerged as a result of collaborative efforts with the Higher Education Ministry," he said.
This impressive job growth demonstrates the potential for the halal industry to contribute significantly to Malaysia's economic development.
He said that both Muslims and non-Muslims can work together harmoniously within the halal industry.
"This is our product and top priority, and let us move forward to cooperate," he added.
