2024 Budget: PTPTN to release details of discount incentives for loan repayment soon

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) will soon release details about the discount incentives for borrowers to repay their study loans as announced in the 2024 Budget.

Its chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim said the government's move to provide discounts illustrated the government's concern with the people's wellbeing amidst the current challenging times.

"The Malaysia Madani government, which is caring, concerned and feels the plight of the people, has provided discount incentives for PTPTN repayment under the 2024 Budget.

"This noble effort proves that the government is concerned towards borrowers who are earnestly repaying the loan despite the tough economic situation while also helping to ensure that PTPTN remains sustainable.

"It is hoped the incentive will help PTPTN borrowers to make repayments. Details about these discount initiatives for PTPTN repayment would be released soon," she said in a statement today.

Those who need further information could check the corporation's website www.ptptn.gov.my or contact them via their careline at 03-2193 3000.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his 2024 Budget speech yesterday said a 10 per cent discount would be given to those who settle their remaining loan in full or at least half of their total loan amount.

He had also announced a 15 per cent discount would be made available to borrowers opting for repayment through salary deductions or scheduled bank transfers.
