KUALA LUMPUR: A pair of luxury Rolex watches owned by a senior police officer was bought with money gifted from his mother and late father.
Integrity and Compliance Standard Department (JIPS) head Datuk Seri Azri Ahmad verified that the department is currently investigating the senior police officer.
"Initial investigations confirmed that these watches were purchased with money gifted from his mother, who was a successful businessperson, and his late father.
"JIPS will continue the investigation from various angles," he said in a statement today.
On Friday, a woman pleaded not guilty in Magistrate's Court to the charge of stealing two luxury watches belonging to her husband two years ago.
The accused, Mou Ei Leen @ Eileen Mou, 41, from Kuantan, Pahang, entered her not guilty plea after the charges were read before Magistrate Siti Nora Sharif.
The woman, who is currently going through a divorce with her husband, who is a police officer, was accused of stealing a Rolex Sky Dweller watch (Model 326135) with serial number 0890R359 and a Rolex GMT Master-II 9 watch (Model 116718 LN) with serial number A9R56702.
The alleged theft occurred in a house in Pinggiran Rapat Ria in Ipoh on January 2021.
