PM to update parliament on Palestinian situation [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: The Prime Minister will give an update on the conflict in Gaza, Palestine, in Parliament today.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the conflict touched his heart and the hearts of many Malaysians, adding that he would have never imagined such a "bitter and dark" episode of history.

"The pressures (from the onslaught of war) that is happening in Gaza touches my heart and my feelings. I have been in the world of politics for so long, but I would have never thought that this would happen in this day and age.

"The display of brutality by a group of people so cruel. We are witnessing an episode in history that is bitter and dark, but it is being sanctioned, allowed by the great powers of democracy, freedom, and liberalism in the west and in the United States.

"It is very confusing."

He said this at the Prime Minister's Department October assembly here, this morning.

Anwar said that the country's leaders, including Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir had already been in contact with their counterparts in other Islamic countries and in the region to help the people of Palestine.
