RM25 million complex to be built to produce young Mualaf preachers

ALOR GAJAH: The Al Bayan Academy Complex, which focuses on producing preachers among young Muslim converts (mualaf), will be built in Kampung Pegoh here at a cost of RM25 million.

Pertubuhan Akademi Al-Bayan chairman Dr Nur Mohammad Hadi Zahalan said the complex will be built in two phases.

It is expected to be completed by 2025, with student admissions scheduled for 2026.He said the complex is being developed on a 0.81-hectare area, donated by three individuals to support the efforts of nurturing more young preachers, enabling them to conduct preaching activities locally and internationally.

"It will be built by incorporating the architectural style of the Malay Sultanate of Melaka, highlighting Malay heritage with elements from Chinese and Indian cultures.

"The first phase of constructing the Al Bayan Academy Complex will involve building structures estimated at RM16 million, and an additional RM9 million will be allocated for supporting facilities," he told reporters here today.

The construction of the complex was funded by both local and international donors, with approval from the Melaka Islamic Religious Council (MAIM) and a fundraising limit of RM25 million.

The academy is expected to accommodate about 300 students among young mualaf, as well as having quotas for students from 'asnaf' families and orphans from both within and outside the country, he added.

The academy's religious studies and preaching programmes will adhere to approved syllabus recognised locally and internationally.

The Al Bayan Academy Complex, besides being a centre for preaching studies, is also expected to become one of the Islamic cultural tourism products in the state which offers Islamic architecture, especially in 2026 during Malaysia Visit Year, he added. -- BERNAMA
