KOTA BARU: The organiser of a concert, whose video went viral showcasing scantily dressed women in Bachok, is likely to be fined for breaching Kelantan's Entertainment Control Enactment.
State Local Government, Housing, Health, and Environment Hilmi Abdullah said the case is being handled by the Bachok municipal council.
"The state government, via the Bachok local municipal council, has approved the permit for the organiser to organise the religious event.
"It was also a close-door event, but it is understood that the organiser has breached the conditions in the permit.
"We will carry out a thorough investigation of the case. If it is true that the organiser has violated the rules, he will be fined," he told reporters at the state assembly sitting here today.
He mentioned that it would not be a problem for the organiser if Muslims did not attend the event.
The Guchil assemblyman also said the state government would call all the heads of non-Muslim religious societies to brief them about the guidelines stated in the enactment.
He was commenting on the viral video showcasing scantily-dressed women performing at a concert in Kelantan.
The video has triggered a heated debate across social media platforms and sparked considerable backlash, drawing attention to the state government's seemingly contradictory stance, particularly in light of previous Pas criticism regarding international performances.
The video has so far garnered nearly 200,000 views and received 144 comments.
Following this, the Kelantan PKR Women has called on the Pas-led state administration to investigate a concert held in Bachok on Nov 24, which allegedly featured "raunchy" performances.
Its chief, Nor Azmiza Mamat, said a video clip of the event circulating on social media showed Thai artiste Thungpang Chanoknan performing along with dancers clad in sexy attire.
"We understand that the concert was held in conjunction with the Loy Krathong Festival and, through videos posted on TikTok, it can be seen that the singer and dancers were dressed in violation of the state's Entertainment Control Enactment.
"Therefore, we demand the Kelantan government to investigate the matter and take appropriate action," Azmiza said.
She added that Kelantan PKR Women supports the enactment and wants authorities to implement stern enforcement on future concerts organised in the state.
