KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Ministry has received over seven million applications for the RM100 eMadani credit as of 5pm yesterday (Monday).
The ministry, in a Facebook post, said the technical problems experienced at the beginning of the eMadani registration, following the extraordinary number of registrations received, had been successfully addressed and the system is now back to normal.
"Thank you for your patience and we apologise for any inconvenience," it said, adding that the application for the eMadani credit is open until Feb 20, next year.
"Therefore, eMadani recipients still have time, which is more than two months, to register through the selected e-wallet service providers such as MAE, Setel, ShopeePay and Touch 'n Go eWallet," it said.
Recipients, who are eligible and have gone through the 'Know-Your-Customer' (eKYC) verification process during registration, will receive RM100 eMadani credit in their e-wallet between one and five days from the date of application.
The e-Madani is a government initiative to disburse RM100 in e-credit to 10 million Malaysians aged 21 and above, with income below RM100,000 per annum, and who are not recipients of the past eBeliaRahmah credit.
It is a one-off incentive to encourage cashless transactions.
The initiative is made possible via the Madani Economy Framework, which was announced in July.
