PUTRAJAYA: The composition of members in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) for the cases related to the sovereignty of Batu Puteh, Middle Rocks and South Ledge will be known after obtaining the king's consent, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi, who is the unity government spokesman, said the cabinet, during its meeting earlier, agreed that the matter was of utmost importance because it involves the border issue and country's sovereignty, among other things.
"The cabinet has agreed that the RCI on Batu Puteh, Middle Rocks and South Ledge has been set up as mentioned in a press statement by the Chief Secretary to the Government (Tan Sri Zuki Mohd Ali)," Fahmi told a press conference today.
Zuki had said that the RCI will be conducted in accordance with the Investigation Commission Act 1950.
He said the list of proposed members would be presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, taking into consideration the vast experience in judicial and legal affairs and public administration.
