Kota Kinabalu flexes its muscles on 24th anniversary with KK City Strongman Contest

KOTA KINABALU: As Kota Kinabalu commemorates its 24th anniversary as a city, a new tradition of strength and endurance emerges with the KK City Strongman competition.

The Kota Kinabalu City Council, in a Facebook post on Jan 31, said that the event will happen at the Kota Kinabalu City Hall headquarters parking lot on Feb 4 from 8am to 3pm, challenging participants across a wide array of strength-testing categories.

Open to competitors of all levels, from novices to veterans, the Strongman contest promises a display of might with categories such as Duck Walk, Tyre Flip, and Car Deadlift.

Participants will have the chance to showcase their capabilities in hopes of securing one of the coveted top ten spots, complete with cash prizes and trophies, with the grand winner securing RM1,000 in cash along with a trophy.

"The KK City Strongman is not just about physical strength; it's a symbol of our city's resilience and unity

"We invite everyone, regardless of experience, to join or cheer on as we celebrate this special milestone for Kota Kinabalu," the post said.

The event is anticipated to draw a large crowd, offering an opportunity for locals and tourists alike to witness the blend of competitive spirit and festive celebration that defines Kota Kinabalu.
