KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty the King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim has expressed his displeasure and sadness that socks with the word 'Allah' were sold at a convenience store chain.
His Majesty reminded all segments of society to uphold national harmony and refrain from exploiting sensitive issues related to religion, ethnicity, and royalty.
"Only recently, I emphasised and reminded everyone on the importance of unity and mutual respect in my address in parliament but still this issue has arisen," he said, adding it was important to maintain unity and mutual respect among the people.
Sultan Ibrahim said Muslims revere the word Allah and such matters which incite anger should not arise.
"That is why a thorough investigation and strict action against those found guilty should be taken.
"Whether it was intentional or not, whether it was imported or produced in local factories, I want enforcement agencies to investigate and take the strictest action according to the existing laws so that the same mistake is not repeated," he said.
