KUALA LUMPUR: The Sarawak government is still waiting for Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli to discuss the concern by the state on the security of personal data collected under the Central Database Hub (Padu) initiative.
Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today confirmed that he has heard nothing yet from the ministry for updates on the meeting.
"So far, sik ada (not yet). We are still waiting (for a meeting between the Sarawak government and Economy Ministry on Padu)," he told reporters at the state government's Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching in Sarawak today.
Abang Johari last month said the Economy Ministry would discuss with Sarawak over the state's concerns over Padu this month.
The meeting in Kuching, said the Sarawak Premier, would involve Rafizi.
The Sarawak Government, he said, welcomed Rafizi's willingness to understand the registration of Padu registration has been postponed in Sarawak.
Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Hamzah had previously said that the state government was against Sarawakians disclosing too many personal details about themselves.
Karim added that the state government had agreed that "there must be a slight change (in the information requested) specifically for Sarawak".
