PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has not yet initiated an investigation into Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming regarding his announcement of a RM5.21 million allocation for residents of Hulu Selangor.
Its chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the commission would look into the matter and take into account media reports on the event, which was held in Kuala Kubu Baharu last month.
"For now, we have not opened any investigation paper. However, we will look into it and the media reports (on the event) to determine if it is corruption or not," he told reporters after the launch of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2024-2028.
It was previously reported that Nga, who is also DAP vice-chairman, had said he was ready to cooperate with the Election Commission over complaints regarding his announcement of RM5.21 million allocated to the Selangor Municipal Council.
He however said the complaint, lodged by Perikatan Nasional, should not have been an issue as it was not made during the campaign period.
Earlier today, the EC said they had yet to summon Nga (https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2024/05/1047346/ec-yet-summon-nga-ove...), with EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh saying he would leave it to his successor, as he was retiring this month.
