Ulu Tiram attack: Pahang govt contribute RM8,000 to Shafiq's family

KUANTAN: The Pahang government will contribute RM8,000 to the next of kin of Constable Muhamad Shafiq Ahmad Said, who was killed in an attack at the Ulu Tiram police station in Johor today.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said RM5,000 will be donated by the state government while the remaining RM3,000 was his personal contribution.

"I hope the assistance will help ease the family's burden. The incident is extremely heartbreaking and has left the people across Pahang devastated.

"I believe the suspect should have never committed such an act which does not bring any benefit, especially towards the policemen who were on duty," he told reporters after opening the Pahang Bumiputera Contractors Association office at Permatang Permai here today.

In a Facebook message, Wan Rosdy expressed his deepest condolences to the families of Constable Muhamad Shafiq Ahmad Said and Constable Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar.

"I am saddened by the incident involving both the policemen, especially Constable Muhamad Shafiq Ahmad Said who is from Kuantan, Pahang," he said.

Both Shafiq and Ahmad Azza were killed by a masked, parang-wielding intruder at the Ulu Tiram police station in Johor about 3am today while another was injured. The suspect was shot dead.
