ARAU: The opportunity for an early release from prison just before Hari Raya Aidiladha is an unforgettable moment of gratitude for a young father known as Din, 24.
Din said that becoming a prisoner released on license is a chance for him to celebrate the festive season with his wife and one-year-old son.
"I was here (Perlis Correctional Centre) for a drug offense, and after 10 years here, it has been a time of reflection for me. This opportunity makes me grateful to God, as it is a second chance to reunite with my son and wife.
"Honestly, it is a mix of emotions, but I am determined to use this chance to change for the sake of my child's and wife's happiness," he said when met at the Perlis Correctional Centre here today.
Din is among the 15 prospects released early from prison as part of the Ihsan Madani Prisoners' Release on Licence programme in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha 2024 celebrations here today.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Hafizal Husni, a car wash and farm business owner who participated in the programme said he sees the program as a way to offer job opportunities to these prospects in the service industry.
"In my opinion, society should give a second chance to them by providing them with employment so that they can become self-reliant.
"In my experience of over two years hiring them, I have not faced any issues with the employees. Some of them have continued working with my company to this day.
"Instead of hiring foreign workers, I believe it is better to employ released prospects, thereby helping them avoid returning to prison," he said.
