Sg Bakap polls: PKR Youth lodges report over damaged flags and campaign materials

NIBONG TEBAL: Penang PKR Youth has condemned the provocative actions by certain irresponsible quarters who damaged Pakatan Harapan flags and campaign materials in Bandar Tasek Mutiara yesterday.

Its chief, Muhammad Fadzli Roslan, said the incident was discovered by party workers during monitoring rounds at Puteri Gunung around midnight.

He said that during the monitoring rounds, a group of men, believed to be from a rival party, were observed installing campaign materials in the area.

He added that shortly after, they found the PH campaign materials had been damaged and removed.

"We do not wish to speculate or accuse any party, but the vandalism occurred after the group was seen installing campaign materials in the vicinity of the incident.

"Upon inspection, a total of 38 banners and 53 flags were taken down and damaged, some found inside the drains, replaced with Perikatan Nasional campaign materials," he said when met after filing a report at the Seberang Prai Selatan district police headquarters here today.

Fadzli said he had submitted all evidence, including pictures of the group believed to be responsible for the sabotage, to the police for further action.

He said during this campaigning period, activities should be conducted peacefully without provocation or extreme actions.

"Young people should set a good example.

"If weather is cited as the cause of the damage, there were no storms or rain last night," he added.

He hoped that the remaining campaigning period would proceed smoothly without further provocations or damage to campaign materials.

Meanwhile, checks at Jalan Cangkat Dain here showed at least two PH flags with burn marks.
