KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecast heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds to hit several areas in Johor, Sabah and Sarawak until 7pm today.
It said in a post on Facebook that the bad weather in Johor is expected to affect Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru.
In Sarawak, it will involve the districts of Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah (Matu, Dalat, and Mukah), Bintulu (Tatau and Sebauh), and Miri (Marudi), it said.
In Sabah, the bad weather is expected to hit the rural areas of Nabawan as well as Tawau and Sandakan (Tongod, Telupid, and Beluran).
"An alert is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that are likely to occur for more than an hour.
"A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for not more than six hours for each issuance," it said.
