Lanes along Federal Highway to be closed in stages for LRT3 project works this month

KUALA LUMPUR: Some lane closures and traffic diversions will occur along the Federal Highway this month due to the construction of the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) project.

These will be done in stages between 11pm and 5am from July 5-20.

Project contractor Setia Utama LRT 3 Sdn Bhd (SULRT3) said the lane closures and traffic diversions involve the Kuala Lumpur-bound and Klang-bound stretches opposite the Petronas and Shell petrol stations near Section 1, Shah Alam.

In the first stage, the left-most and middle lanes of the Klang-bound stretch of the Federal Highway will be closed from July 5-6.

During that time, one lane will still be open for motorists heading to Klang.

"For the second stage, the fast lane for the Federal Highway (Kuala Lumpur-bound and Klang-bound) will be closed from July 12-13. During these closures, two lanes will be provided for motorists who are heading to both Kuala Lumpur and Klang.

"For the third stage, the left-most and middle lanes of the Federal Highway (Kuala Lumpur-bound) will be closed from July 19-20, and one lane will be provided for motorists heading to Kuala Lumpur," it said in a statement.

SULRT3 said the road diversions were approved by the Public Works Department.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to the public."

Those with queries may contact the LRT3 help line at 1-800 18-2585 from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm, excluding public holidays.

The LRT3 project, involving a cost of RM4.7 billion will span from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia, Selangor. It is expected to benefit about two million people.
