AG's Report proposes 64 recommendations for ministries, agencies [UPDATED]

KUALA LUMPUR: The Auditor General's Report (LKAN) 2/2024 has proposed 64 audit recommendations for implementation by ministries, departments, agencies and government-linked companies at the federal level.

Auditor General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi said all controlling officers, heads of departments and chief executive officers had been informed about the matters reported in the report for verification purposes.

A closing meeting was also held to discuss the audit findings and to obtain explanations and feedback on the issues raised.

Wan Suraya highlighted that audits by the National Audit Department had led to positive outcomes, prompting corrective and improvement actions by the government.

"Following audits from LKAN 2020, 2021 and 2022, monitored via the Auditor General Dashboard portal, the government has recovered refunds, penalties, outstanding rent and Liquidated Ascertained Damages totalling RM100 million up to the second quarter of 2024."

She also said the department would initiate the Digitalisation of National Audit Department (PPJ) services in July next year.

This move aims to adopt inclusive and sustainable auditing practices, positioning the department as a regional leader in digital auditing.

Wan Suraya said PPJ's initiatives would use artificial intelligence, including drones for remote auditing, alongside advanced data analytics tools, to detect risks and internal control weaknesses.

"Through PPJ, integrated information on auditing, human resources and LKAN will ensure accurate and timely outputs."
