MACC to go through HRD Corp documents to check for wrongdoing

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed receiving information and documents regarding the findings made in the Auditor General's reports concerning HRD Corp, an agency under the Human Resources Ministry.

In a statement issued today, the graft busters said the documents were handed over to the agency by the ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud.

He handed over the documents to the MACC at 11.30am.

"The MACC will go through the documents to determine if there is any element of wrongdoing or abuse of power under the MACC Act 2009.

"Apart from checking for criminal elements, the MACC will also determine if there were any wrongdoings committed involving procedural matters," the statement read.

Earlier today, Khairul said the ministry had submitted a report to the MACC regarding issues highlighted in the Auditor General's Report and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), which were presented in Parliament yesterday (July 4).

He said the move was in line with recommendations by the auditor general (Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi) for the ministry to submit a report to relevant enforcement agencies after the government-linked entity failed its audit.
