Opposition MP questions why Dewan Rakyat still lists Bukit Gantang as part of PN

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional member of parliament Ahmad Fadhli Shaari today questioned why a display in the lower house still listed Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal as part of the coalition.

His concern arose after Syed Hussin had his membership in Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) ceased after he declared support for the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Fadhli raised the matter just before Syed Hussin stood to ask an additional question during this morning's Question Time.

Fadhli: Tan Sri (to Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul), why is he still listed as PN on the screen? He is no longer PN. How can he still sit there?

Johari: Do you have proof for me to withdraw him from PN?

Fadhli: He himself said that he's no longer part of PN.

Johari: No, is there written proof from PN to me on this matter?

Fadhli: Do we need to write to you to inform you about this?

Johari: It has to be in written form, otherwise I wouldn't know. Bersatu has sent the letter, but not PN. According to our records, it is based on PN, not Bersatu or Pas. Please do accordingly (send the letter).

Previously, the memberships of the six Bersatu MPs were automatically ceased.

Other than Syed Abu Hussin, the five are Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar) and Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanafi (Tanjong Karang).
