MH17: Malaysia's race against time to secure crucial evidence [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A decade ago, Malaysia sent over 130 personnel to Ukraine to assist in a search and recovery operation of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine, armless, into the heart of a warzone.

Among them were the Dozen Persons, twelve valiant men who braved the treacherous battlefield to recover victims' remains and crucial evidence, including the black box from the iron grip of separatist leader Alexander Borodai.

Their perilous journey stretched from Kyiv to Donetsk.

These heroes faced down armed guards and withstood the deadly threat of sniper fire. They took a harrowing train ride to Kharkiv, where they met officers from various agencies, all united in the solemn task of receiving the remains and safeguarding the black box for investigation.

Yet, their ordeal was far from over. Trapped by soldiers from international agencies at the train station, they were coerced into secret meetings and forced to sign documents in an unfamiliar language, their mission hanging in the balance.
