[UPDATED] 7 areas in KL, Selangor hit by water disruptions

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 1,000 locations in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will experience water supply disruptions following odour pollution detected in Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) announced today that the pollution forced the temporary shutdown of the Rantau Panjang, Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2), and Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) Water Treatment Plants (WTPs).

"Due to the temporary shutdown of these four WTPs, seven Air Selangor regions—Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, and Kuala Selangor—are experiencing unscheduled water disruptions," the statement said.

In Kuala Lumpur, areas expected to face water disruptions include Bukit Bintang, Bukit Damansara, Kampung Baru, Kampung Attap, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Mid Valley City, Mont Kiara, Parliament, Sentul, Taman Tasik Perdana, Titiwangsa Sentral, Segambut, Brickfields, and Bangsar Utama.

Air Selangor has implemented alternative measures, including deploying water tankers to affected areas, prioritizing critical premises.

"Air Selangor is making every effort to minimize the impact of these disruptions on affected users."
