KUALA LUMPUR: The National Museum targets 20,000 visitors for the Raja Kita exhibition over a two-month period, starting from tomorrow (July 26) to Sept 29 this year.
The Museums Malaysia Department director-general Datuk Kamarul Baharin A. Kasim said the exhibition aims to educate people, especially the younger generation, about the existence of the royal institution in Malaysia.
"This exhibition will provide the community with the space and opportunity to learn more about the Constitutional Monarch and its functions," he said during a press conference here.
He said that a total of 272 collections are on display and will rotate daily for the exhibition.
Among the items exhibited are religious insignias and ballot papers used by His Majesty during the election of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong every five years.
Additionally, the King and Queen's crowns used during coronation ceremonies will also be displayed.
"For the special collections, they will only be displayed for four days during this exhibition before being replaced with technology like artificial intelligence.
"These special collections are original regalia used within the Johor palace, and this is the first time they will be displayed outside the palace," he explained.
He said the exhibition implementation received cooperation from institutions and agencies such as the Istana Negara, State Secretary Offices (SUK), State Royal Museums, public universities, and government agencies.
He also emphasised that the exhibition indeed opens up opportunities for the younger generation to understand more about the royal institution.
"It is important for them to know how the royal institution exists and to recognise the King," he said.
