KUALA LUMPUR: The Higher Education Ministry views seriously allegations of syndicates selling fake academic certificates reported yesterday.
In a statement, the ministry said it would take stern actions against any public and private higher learning institutions or individuals involved in such activities.
"At the ministry level, the Higher Education Department is carrying out monitoring and supervision of private higher learning institutes in line with the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996 pertaining to fake certificates.
"Apart from that, the ministry has its standard operating procedure implemented to ensure the authenticity of the academic certificates for verification."
The ministry said there were several cases that were exposed following public complaints.
