SUNGAI BULOH: A group of 'mat rempits' is being sought by police after a video went viral of their dangerous antics which led to an accident along the Latar highway.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said police detected the video which was circulated on Facebook at around 10am today.
He said the video showed a group of motorcyclists racing before being involved in an accident.
"Our investigations revealed that the incident occurred at around 10.36pm on July 28 along KM20.8 of the Latar highway east bound, involving four motorcyclists.
"The four motorcyclists were believed to be performing the superman manoeuvre prior to the collision," he said in a statement today.
He said all the riders suffered multiple injuries and were sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for medical treatment.
"Further checks on July 29 revealed that all the motorcyclists aged between 20 and 24 had left the hospital.
"We are now tracing the whereabouts of all the motorcyclists involved," he said, adding that the case is being investigated as dangerous and reckless driving under Section 42(1) of the Road Traffic Department.
He urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Inspector Muhammad Fahmi Shamsuddin at 014-366 7353.
He also advised motorcyclists to be cautious and to abide by the traffic laws at all times.
