Shamsul's experience will contribute to country's civil service, says PPTD

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar's experience, credibility and commitment would contribute to the development and management of the country's civil sector, said the Malaysian Administrative and Diplomatic Service Association (PPTD).

PPTD president Datuk Seri Isham Ishak said they would give their full cooperation to Shamsul, who was appointed the 16th Chief Secretary to the Government.

"We will give our full cooperation to Shamsul, especially in issues surrounding the welfare, professionalism and well-being of civil servants and administrative and diplomatic officers (PTD) in Malaysia.

"We would also like to extend our gratitude to Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali for his dedicated service throughout his tenure as Chief Secretary to the Government," he said in a statement today.

Earlier, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) announced that Shamsul, the Public-Private Partnership Unit director-general, had been appointed as the new Chief Secretary to the Government, effective Aug 12.

Shamsul, 55, would replace Zuki, whose contract ends Aug 10.

Shamsul was appointed with the consent of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

With 30 years of experience in public service, Shamsul had served at the Finance Ministry, Public Service Department and state government administration.
