Shamsul the right man for Chief Secretary Job, says Cuepacs

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar is the right man to continue the legacy of leading the public service and taking it to greater heights as the Chief Secretary to the Government, said Cuepacs president Datuk Adnan Mat.

He expressed confidence in Shamsul's vast experience in the sector to lead the civil service in line with Malaysia Madani aspirations.

"The public service needs a leader with vast experience and is closely connected to the staff to effectively address their issues and welfare.

"Cuepacs hopes Shamsul will prioritise aspects of togetherness and unity among civil servants to promote holistic," he said in a statement.

Adnan said togetherness in civil service must be instilled to ensure all government plans could be translated into excellent service.

He urged civil servants to give their full cooperation to Shamsul, as leadership without the support of the people would make it difficult to bring about the intended changes.

"Cuepacs would like to thank the outgoing Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali (whose contract ends on Aug 10) for his excellent service during his tenure as the chief secretary to the government.

"He faced various challenges and experienced changes in the country's administration."

He said the duty shouldered by Zuki and civil servants had made a huge impact to the country and the people.

Shamsul, 55, the director-general of the Public-Private Partnership Unit, had been appointed as the new Chief Secretary to the Government, effective Aug 12.
